©BorisGrzeszczakMy work moves within fairly broad themes (time, landscape, perception), and within them I look for specific angles that reveal something about contemporary society, its contradictions, in search of its blind spot. These become the starting point for personal stories, sometimes drawn from my own life, that offer glimpses of lives lived more or less on the margins and invite other ways of seeing.
I aim for formal rigor, that does not exclude experimentation, and the work carries a melancholy in which joy, along with a kind of earnest mockery, keeps finding a way to survive. I try to stay attentive to the people and other living beings around me, to their beauty, their fragility and to how they make room for themselves in a world that is coming apart.
I prefer open-ended pieces and ongoing series. This lets long-term projects with interconnected themes grow over time and benefit from chance encounters along the way. I also bring found objects and images into my work, giving a temporary home to things that might otherwise have vanished without a trace. My practice is largely multidisciplinary and draws on my experience as a performer, as well as my interest in the body in unusual positions, both on stage and in society.
